Yuzuru Hanyu and the Amazing New World Record
Have you ever thought of things that can go in the record book? Well, in these three paragraphs you will find out the brand new broken record of a 19 year-old man.The new broken record in short programme man’s figure skating, was set by Japan’s Yuzuru Hanyu at the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics. Hanyu served up a quad toe-loop, triple axel, and a triple lutz-triple toe-loop combination. Those word probably don’t ring a bell to most of the reader, but they represent the various body compositions on ice skates.

Yuzuru was skating to the song “Parisian Walkways” by Gary Moore, his performance was 3.93-points ahead of Patrick Chan (of Canada) the three-time world champion (in men’s ice skating). The young man was very proud of his ice magic, he said it himself. “I was just trying to turn in the best performance I possibly could, and I did,” said Hanyu. I was very, very surprised by the score.”

There were the top 5 places. Yuzuru Hanyu (from Japan) was in first place with a total score 0f 280.09, he is also the youngest contestant. Patrick Chan of Canada was second place with a total score of 275.62. Denis Ten from Kazakhstan was third place with a total score of 255.10. The fourth place went to Javier Fernández from Madrid/Spain, and the fifth place went to Tatsuki Machida who is also from Japan, with a score of 253.42.
